Entry restricted by the locks and bridges on the Great North-Holland Canal. These are closed on national holidays, Sundays and from 1900-0700hrs. Accessible for vessels from Den Helder of length 80m, beam 14m and draught 2.5m. For vessels with a beam less than 9.0m, a draught of 3.5m is allowed. From Amsterdam Zaandam: Length 80m, beam 12m and draught 2.8m.

Communications should be sent via Scheveningen Radio, which operates throughout 24 hours, 7 days a week. Inmarsat communication is possible. VHF: Port: Ch 14. Pilot: Ch 12. Koopvaardersschutsluis Lock: Ch 22.

The Customs allowances are 5 litres of spirits for the total crew and 200 cigarettes for each person. Immigration procedures are carried out by the agent.

Vessels ETA should be sent 24 hours and 6 hours before arrival any changes are to be notified 2 hours prior to arrival. The message should include the following information: ..... 1. Vessel's name 2. Gross tonnage 3. LOA 4. Draught 5. Application for free pratique is not necessary. Ship Sanitation Control Certificates can be renewed.
