Cakerawala Marine Terminal (MYCAK)

The Cakerawala complex, in 55m water depth, consists of three wellhead platforms, a central processing facility, living quarters and FSO 'Puteri Cakerawala' for condensate storage and tandem mooring for export.

Cakerawala Marine Terminal is located in Block A-18, approx 150km NE of Kota Bahru, Malaysia and 276km E of Songkhla, Thailand, at the outer entrance to the Gulf of Thailand.

Offshore: LOA 243.56m, beam 42m, 105,715DWT.

An anchorage area has been established for vessels waiting to load at Cakerawala. The anchorage is centred on a position 07°05'N 103°00'E, and covers an area of radius 1,500m from this point.

Tankers should approach the waiting area which has been designated 8nm SW of the Terminal position, keeping well clear of the restricted area. Tankers must, under no circumstances enter or anchor in or near the restricted areas to unknown seabed features and the existence of the current and future pipelines development. Tankers that have received VHF instructions from the Terminal to proceed to the pilot boarding point, must maintain a distance of not less than 2nm from all offshore facilities.

Tandem mooring to FSO is carried out , with 76mm chafe chain to be connected on bow of export tanker. Support vessel used for mooring activities.

The pilot boarding point is approximately 6nm SW of the terminal. A terminal representative will normally board tankers from this point.

The Terminal berthing operations is during daylight hours and within the weather limits. Berthing Restriction : Max wind velocity - 20 to 25 knots & Max sea/swell height : 2.0 to 2.5 mtrs.

Ocean currents are variable except during NE monsoon period when a 1kt to 1.5kts current sets predominately SW.

During SW monsoon (May-Sep) winds are generally from the S or SW reaching gale force in local squalls. During the NE monsoon (Nov-Mar) the winds are generally from the NE. Intermittent bad weather occurs during this time, when high seas and swell conditions can persist for extended periods.

All communications are in English. Tanker Masters should endeavour to establish contact with Cakerawala Marine Terminal VHF Channel as soon as they are within VHF radio range. ETA is to be confirmed 72, 48 and 24 hours prior to arrival. If there are any changes in excess of one hour, ETA should be reconfirmed immediately.

Notice of readiness shall be tendered when the tanker arrives at the waiting area, it should be presented to the terminal representative boarding.
