Galisbay (MFGES)

Galisbay is a small port area consisting of a pier extending approx 100m WSW from the shore, accommodating breakbulk and tanker vessels as well as service and tourism boats. To the N, adjacent and running parallel to the pier, is a breakwater approx 170m long giving substantial shelter from the N and NW. At the NE end of the pier, shoreside and forming part of the quay, there is a Ro-Ro ramp, which links on to the East Quay.

Galisbay is situated in Baie de la Potence, in the NW area of the French section of the island of St Martin (Saint Maarten).

Compulsory. Available 24 hours a day. Pilotage is performed by Government pilots. Requests for pilots should be made 24 hours in advance of vessels arrival.

The seaward end of Galisbay Pier is marked by a sector light (Fl (3). WRG. 12s), 10m high and visble from 6 to 8 miles.

Port facilities and services may be subject to disruption, following severe hurricane force winds.
