Giurgiulesti (MDGIU)

Giurgiulesti International Free Port consists of a petroleum terminal, a cargo port and an industrial free zone. The port's facilities provide direct access to the Danube and Black Sea, as well as benefiting from its connection to the European standard and Russian railway systems as well as the international road network.

Giurgiulesti International Freeport is located on the N bank of the Danube and confluence of the Prut River, at the border between Romania and Ukraine, situated at km 133.8. Danube Logistics and government officials representing the state customs committee, border guards, harbour master and sanitary authorities will board the vessel for documentation purposes upon its arrival and departure. The master of the vessel will be required to present stamped copies of the documents specified in Giurgiulesti's port rules. When entering the river Danube via the Sulina or Bystroye channels please refer to Maritime Danube Regulations of the Romanian River Administration (AFDJ).

Pilotage is compulsory within the Sulina and Bystroye channels as well as the maritime section of the Danube up to Giurgiulesti port.

One tug at the oil terminal and with two tugs at the grain, container and general cargo terminals is compulsory.

VHF: Harbour Master: Ch 16. Tugs: Ch 16, 14. Prior to the final approach to the port, the master must seek the permission of Giurgiulesti Harbour Master on Channel 16.

ETA should be sent 72, 48, 24 and 4 hours in advance to the port owner.

Berthing operations are conducted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. At all terminals the vessels are to be berthed starboard alongside (facing upstream).
