Kenitra (MANNA)

The port handles general cargo and dry bulk.

Summer.

Kenitra is situated approx 17km up the River Oued Sebou, N of Rabat.

LOA 115m.

Approx 350,000t of cargo and 130 vessels handled annually.

Good anchorage is found off the entrance, sand bottom.

From the mouth of the river up to the port is dredged channel, depths 4.2m during neap tides and 5.5m during spring tides. Access to the port is over a bar, the depth varies from 2.9-5.50m, spring tides. The river has an approx width of 240m.

Compulsory. Pilot boards at the river mouth and available 24 hours during periods of HW.

Entry and departure can take place at HW and day time only. Vessels must wait outside the port entrance for the tide. Between Nov-Apr port is closed to navigation total of 5-7 individual days, due to weather conditions.

Range 3.8m (springs), 2.6m (neaps).

Prevailing winds: W'ly in winter and E'ly in summer.
