Cayman Brac (KYCYB)

The port is an island that is part of the Cayman Islands. It is a small port which generally engaged in lightering operation. The port of Creek on the NE coast of Cayman Brac has one pier for vessels with max forward draught of 4.8m and handles mainly passengers and petroleum products.

North Atlantic Seasonal Tropical Area, Tropical Nov 1 to Jul 15, Summer Jul 16 to Oct 31.

Cayman Brac is situated 90nm ENE of Grand Cayman.

LOA 75m, draught 4.8m, 3,000DWT.

Anchorage is available as follows: Creek: Off the dock in position 19°44.8'N 079°46.3'W; Channel: In position 19°40.6'N 079°53.0'W, depth 18.0m. Caution: A vessel anchoring off the N side of Cayman Brac is recommended to ride with a short scope of chain; if too much chain is used, wind and current could cause it to foul the coral heads and bring up the vessel very short in a squall. Care is necessary to avoid turtle nets. There are also several anchorages to N and S of the Island for the purpose of tanker lightering operations. Pilotage is compulsory for vessels 800GT and over, cruise vessels and tankers. Request for a pilot should be made to the Port Authority at least 24 hours in advance. The pilot boards 2.5nm WNW of North East Point or 1nm SE of South West Point Light. The Port Authority will confirm the exact boarding position by VHF.

West End Point Light, (white mast), 19°41'N 079°54'W. North East Point Light, (white metal tower, black base, 6m in height), 14nm ENE, at the E end of Cayman Brac.

Range of 0.3m.

There are no tugs available at Cayman Brac, however they can be ordered from Grand Cayman.
