Sakaide (JPSKD)

Sakaide operates both public and private wharves to handle a variety of cargoes. Cargoes handled include imported car vehicles, animal feeds, cement, aggregates, grain, coal, breakbulk, crude, chemicals, oil products, LPG and LNG.

Sakaide is situated on the coast of the Inland Sea in Kagawa Prefecture.

Max LOA 288m, beam 44.2m, draught 16.2m and 114,007DWT.

Approx 12,000,000t of cargo and 10,000 vessels handled annually.

There is a good anchorage for vessels under 10,000DWT with a sand and clay bottom. Larger vessels should wait at the southern area of Kii Suido and adjust their arrival time to berthing instructions. The quarantine anchorage lies in the entrance to the main harbour 1.25nm E of Sei Shima. Permission to use this anchorage or any other in Sakaide Ko, must be obtained from the Maritime Safety Agency at Takamatsu. Pilotage is compulsory for the Inland Sea area and those vessels entering or leaving the port are advised to retain a pilot onboard. Pilots are available at the quarantine anchorage between 0700-1700hrs for vessels requiring pilot services. Pilot boarding positions: Off Wada Misaki (Kobe) in position 34°35'N 135°08.5'E, Seki Saki in position 33°13'N 131°56'E, He Saki in position 33°58'N 131°01'E.

Leading lights are exhibited: Front Light, from a white metal framework tower (yellow triangular topmark) standing on the reclaimed area 0.5nm WSW of the summit of Sei Shima. Rear Light, on a gas tank, painted grey, 0.3nm S of the front light. The lights in line bearing 181.25°, lead W of Kosei Shima and into the basin in a least depth of 13.0m.

Tankers berthing daytime only (to pass Bisan Seto East route in daylight) and unberthing from sunrise to 2 hrs before sunset.

Tidal range 3.1m at spring, 2.4m at neap. Tidal streams are weak.
