Satsumasendai (JPSEN)

A small developing port with two power stations and bulk, container, general cargo and LPG facilities.

Satsumasendai is on the SW coast of Kyushu.

LOA 199.99m, beam 32.26m, draught 11m, 49,999DWT.

Approximate 1,760,000t of cargo and 2,700 vessels are handled annually.

Can be obtained off the NE end of the offing breakwater in 13.0-19.0m, sand, good holding ground. Anchorage is also available inside the W breakwater in 7.0-12.0m, sand, good holding ground.

The draught in the channel is 11.0m. The Outer Harbour is approached from a position about 1.25nm W of the harbour, the track leads E. The channel leading to the inner harbour lies on the N side of the S breakwater, parallel to the training wall.

Pilotage is not compulsory.

Port limits extend about 1.5nm N and about 1 mile to seaward of the river mouth.

Berthing only during daylight hours.

Tugs of 3,400-3,600 can be ordered in advance from Kagoshima Ko and take 8 hours passage time to the port.
