Rumoi (JPRMI)

Principal commodities handled include general cargo, coal, cement and petroleum.

North Pacific Winter Seasonal Zone, Winter Oct 16 to Apr 15, Summer Apr 16 to Oct 15.

Rumoi is situated W of the mouth of Rumoi Gawa and E of Rumoi Saki.

LOA 170m, beam 27.2m, draught 7.5m, 29,256DWT.

Approx 1,300,000t of cargo, 800 vessels and 600 passengers handled annually.

Anchorage is available within the port as follows: Area 1: Only fishing vessels or sailing boats up to 300t or vessels berthing at N or S quays. Mud bottom. Area 2: May be used by vessels of all types, mud bottom. Area 3: May be used by vessels of all types, but the bottom is sand and mud, and there is a risk of dragging in strong winds from between N and W. Area 4: Area contains the quarantine anchorage. There is a risk of dragging in strong winds from between N and W. Prohibited Area: To make sure that the passage between the outer and inner port is not obstructed, anchorage is prohibited within an area approx 300m N of the W side of the entrance to the inner port. Entry between the SW end of West Breakwater and the head of South Breakwater is prohibited.

Approach and entry: The port is approached directly from sea, and entered between the heads of West Breakwater and North Outer Breakwater. Max draught in the channel is 7.5m.
