Onoda (JPOND)

The principal shipment from the port is cement and coal.

Onoda is situated on the SW coast of Honshu, facing Kyushu over Suo-Nada. It is adjacent to Ube Port, which is located in the southwestern part of Yamaguchi Prefecture.

LAO 118.04m, beam 19.6m, draught 7.0m, 10,506DWT.

Approx 4,000,000t of cargo and 2,400 vessels handled annually.

There is an anchorage of 7.5m depth.

Draught limitation in the channel is 7.0m.

Not compulsory, but recommended. Pilots are available during daylight hours and undertaken by Seto Naikai pilots. Pilot boarding point is at 35°56.0'N 131° 07.0'E.

The limits cover a semi-circular area W of the harbour and include Asa Ko the mouth of Asa Kawa which flows into N part of Onoda Ko.

A prominent chimney (elevation 206m) stands 450m SW of the entrance to Onoda, and the several chimneys of Onoda Cement Works farther N, are good marks from seaward.

Range max 4.0m; min 0.4m. Outside the harbour, the tidal stream is NW going on the flood and SE going on the ebb at a rate of 1-1.5kts.

There are no tugs stationed at the port, but tugs are available from Ube if required.
