Aioi (JPAIO)

There are no berths for oceangoing vessels working cargo, but IHI has extensive drydocking, repair, ship building and ship breaking facilities.

Aioi is situated on the island of Honshu, in the eastern Inland Sea area.

Vessels up to a max draught of 6.3m and 300,000DWT in ballast can be accommodated.

Approach is via Aioi Bay, with a passage 3.7km in length, depth 6.3-7.5m at LW.

Pilotage compulsory for vessels over 10,000GT.Pilots are available if required from sunrise to 30 minutes before sunset.

Leading lights, privately maintained, are exhibited from a pair of masts (red and white in bands; triangular top-mark) standing on a hill in the N part of the harbour; in line they bear 350.5° and lead into the inlet.

Entry or sailing after sunset is possible but pilots are only available from sunrise to 30 minutes before sunset.

Range max 1.5m; min 0.22m.

Tugs are available from IHI Dockyard.
