Grado (ITGRD)

The port is currently closed for commercial operations. Information for the port is retained should the port reopen. The harbour handles small fishing and coastal commercial and ferry traffic.

Grado port is on the N coast of Italy, 31km W of Trieste.

LOA 50m, draught 3.0m.

Anchorage can be found SSE of the entrance in sand and mud good holding, suitable during the fine weather.

A dredged channel leads to an opening between Isola di Grado on the E side, and banks and islets on the W side, affording access to the harbour at Grado and to the channels of Laguna di Grado. The channel is marked by white sector (031°-036°) of a light beacon (red and white post on dolphin).

Pilots are available in daylight hours.

Mariners are advised to enter Grado only in calm weather and at HW. Local knowledge is required to navigate the channels beyond Grado. Maximum speed of 7kts in the approach channel and 4kts within the harbour.

Range 0.8m (spring), 0.2m (neaps).

In heavy seas and strong winds from the S semi-circle, which are prevalent in spring and autumn.
