π Port Overview
β ISPSβ ECA
Westport Quay, formerly used to service the agricultural industry, is now used by recreational fishing and pleasure vessels. The port had previously been used to export cargoes including; agricultural produce, canned meats and manures and imported cargoes including; timber, coal, salt, machinery and tar. A survey carried out on Westport stated that the port silted badly and therefore unusable. The last commercial vessel visited the port in 1986. The area has been zoned for development to include marine based tourism and recreation in the latest draft for the Westport Local Area Plan. The port and local area will be developed once a Master Plan has been proposed and accepted.
