Maumere (IDMOF)

Maumere serves a large part of the E region of Flores. It is a commercial port open for foreign trade and has regular inter island passenger ferry services. There is a Pertamina oil terminal 6km E of the port.

Maumere is located in the Bay of Maumere on the N coast of the island of Flores.

LOA 130m, draught 9m, 6,500DWT.

Anchorage may be obtained in a depth of 50-70m, mud and sand, 0.05nm off Maumere, the bottom rising steeply. There are three mooring posts on the shore to which hawsers may be secured. Anchorage may also be obtained off Geliting (08°38'S 122°17'E) between 0.2 and 0.35nm offshore within the off lying reefs, in depths of 40-51m, mud. Vessels are able to lie here during the SE monsoon and the reef provides some protection from the sea during the NW monsoon. Anchorage position areas: ..... 08°35.6'S 120°12.5'E 08°37.1'S 122°13.4'E

Direction: From NNW the line bearing 150°of the W and highest of the tree rounded summits of the Dobo mountains leads SSE in depths greater than 200m towards Maumere, passing ENE of Gosong Unjuran (8.5nm) and the dangers extending 8.0nm SSE of Gosong Unjuran to the coast. Minimum depths in the approaches 8.0m LWS. The port basin has depths between 8.0m and 60m LWS. For the Oil Depot or for anchorage off Geliting: Approaches between their respective off lying coastal reefs to the oil depot (08°38'S 122°16'E) or to the anchorage off Geliting, a village 1.5nm farther ESE, must be made as guided by local knowledge and a large scale national chart.

Pilotage is available but not compulsory. Request should be made to the Port Administrator.

Pelabuhan Maumere is bounded by the arc of a circle, radius 0.55nm, centred on the head of the pier (Maumere Light 08°37'S 122°13'E) .

A light is exhibited on or near the pier. Oil Depot Light (08°38'S 122°16'E).

Tides: HWS is 2.0m LWS and MSL is 1.0m LWS.

Winds: S and N or NW.

Radio: It is recommended to use Jakarta Radio for passing messages at long range, callsign "PKX". Working hours are 0000-0400hrs UTC on 8542kHz and 0000-1200hrs UTC on 8752kHz. Inmarsat communication is possible. Port Radio: Callsign ''Maumere Radio'' operated from Port Administration Office.

Immigration: All crew members must have a valid travel document.

Should be advised to agent at 10, 3, 2 and 1 day prior to arrival. In addition to date and time of arrival the Master should also advise the estimated draught on arrival.

Free pratique is granted on arrival. Ship Sanitation Control Certificate (SSCC) and Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate (SSCEC) can be renewed at the major ports.
