Opatija (HROPA)

There are regular ferry services to local ports. The port handles cruise and passengers.

Opatija is situated on Adriatic coast, 17km W of Rijeka.

LOA 110m, draught 4.5m.

May be obtained about 0.25nm E of pierhead in 47m, good holding, or closer inshore as appropriate for draught. Anchorage not recommended in E or SE winds.

BA 2719. Admiralty Pilot NP47, NP286(3).

Compulsory for vessels over 500GT. Pilots available 24 hours a day and board 0.8nm ESE of harbour entrance. Requests for pilotage should be made to the Port Authority of Rijeka, giving 24 hour notice.

Light (red structure, 5m in height) exhibited from molehead of Marina Opatija. Light (red turret with post and gallery, 5m in height) exhibited from molehead of Marina Admiral. Light (red metal column with gallery, 6m in height) on pierhead at Luka Opatija.

The Bora is moderate and always blows from E. Both the Bora and Scirocco raise high seas. Within the harbour there is shelter from all except N winds which cause a swell.
