Metkovic (HRMET)

The port specialises in the handling of cements.

The port of Metkovic is situated on the Neretva River, 11nm from its mouth, on the E coast of the Adriatic Sea, on the Dalmatian coastline.

LOA 100m, draught 4.5m.

Pilotage is compulsory for vessels over 500GT and for vessels carrying dangerous chemicals, combustible substances and noxious liquid substances. Pilots embark at Ploce when sailing up the river, and when sailing down the river, pilots board at Metkovic. "Ploce Pilot" pilotage covers the Port of Ploce and the Port of Metkovic.

Rogotin Bridge: Maximum vertical clearance 14m at centre, 11m at pillars. Overhead cables vertical clearance 15m. Vessels over 150GT, carrying hazardous cargo may only use river between sunrise and sunset.

The usual current is 2.5kts but reaches 5kts after rain.
