Eleusis (GRFLS)

The port of Eleusis is a small bay and deep basin between the North coast of Salamina island and the mainland. Port activities includes export : cement, oil-based paints, soap, wine, resin and olive oil. Imports consist of general goods. Port also handles breakbulk, dry bulk, containers, RoRo, passengers, LPG and liquid facilities.

Eleusis is located on the Saronikos Gulf towards the SE of the mainland, 24km from Piraeus.

LOA 294.1m, beam 50m, draught 14.5m, 167,294DWT.

Approx 1,200,000t of cargo, 400TEU and 500 vessels handled annually.

Anchorage may be obtained off Eleusis in depths from 12.0-20.0m, mud. A recommended berth in a depth of 13.0m is with the head of the pier bearing 097° distant 0.2nm. Eleusis Bauxite Mines SA own an anchorage with buoys for loading.

Compulsory for all vessels, day service available only. Vessels bound to E take a pilot at the station in Piraeus roads. Passage between Perama and Salamis Strait is normally prohibited (military zone).

The port of Eleusis lies N of a line drawn: From the E head of Kolpos Elevsinas (38°01.0'N 023°36.0'E) WSW to Akra Petra Kaloyirou (38°00.0'N 023°31.0'E) then WSW through the N part of Nisos Salamina to Akra Karas (37°57.0'N 023°25.0'E) then SSW to Nisis Kanakia (37°54.0'N 023° 24.0'E) then NW to the head of Kolpos Megaron (37°58.0'N 023°15.0'E).

Ormos Tourkolimano Light (white hexagonal concrete building with column and gallery, red band) (38°02.0'N 023°30.6'E), exhibited at the head of No 2 Jetty.

Passage is only permitted during daylight.

Compulsory for vessels LOA 120m (day) and LOA 75m (night) for passing Salamis Strait, a military zone. Tugs are available, more can be obtained from Peiraias.

Prevailing winds: W'ly.

Olympia Radio ("SVA") receives distress or urgent messages and public communication (working channel). Watch frequencies VHF/FM, 2182kHz and HF/DSC as follows: MF 2187.5kHz. HF 4207.5kHz, 6312kHz, 8414.5kHz, 12577kHz, 16804.5kHz. Heraklio, Limnos and Corfu Radio for general watch calling frequencies. The stations work throughout 24 hours. Port Radio is operated by the Hellenic Coast Guard. VHF: Ch 12, 19.

Customs allowances: Each officer and crew member is allowed 1 bottle of spirits and 1 carton of cigarettes each. Immigration: Immigration authorities issue crew passes. For EU nationals there are no Immigration procedures. There are special regulations for nationals of countries such as Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovakia and South American countries. Crew being repatriated to non European countries must have a ticket which the agent must show to the authorities, agent's guarantees are requested by various authorities.

Master's Declaration concerning disposal of any slops and bunkers, if any. 5. RLM Form (state form) declaring all crew onboard on arrival 6. No Stowaways Declaration 7. Load Line Certificate. Customs authorities (two copies of each): 1. Ship's Stores List Declaration 2. Officer's and Crew's Personal Effects Declaration 3. Master's Declaration that all electrical items, not sealed, and other goods will remain onboard. 4. Masters Declaration for bunkers and cargo onboard. Special forms exist for all documents but apply only to liner vessels. These are delivered onboard on arrival.

Initial ETA to be sent to vessel's agent on departure from last port. Additional ETA's to be sent 72, 48 and 24 hours prior to arrival. The ETA message should include: Vessel's particulars, cargo information, dangerous cargo (if any onboard, with details), health condition and stowaway details (if any).

Pratique should be applied for on arrival and cannot be applied for by radio.

Can be tendered anytime but will only be accepted between 0800-1700hrs.
