The port is currently closed to commercial traffic. Information for the port is retained should the port reopen. The harbour possesses just one berth, length 122m, depth alongside 4.2m (HW) 3.04m (LW). This berth can accommodate small coastal vessels.

Portrush is a small port located on the N coast of Northern Ireland.

Max LOA 48.7m, draught 3.0m.

In fine weather vessels can anchor 0.3nm W of North Pier or inside Skerry Islands.

The harbour is entered between the heads of North Pier and South Pier on each of which stands a light. Once the entrance has been identified it is advisable to open it well before turning into the harbour. Caution: There is a sunken breakwater with a depth of 0.6m over it; which extends 20m SW from the head of North Pier; it should be given a wide berth. A stone groyne, which dries, extends 30m SW from the S side of South Pier, 60m from its head.

Nearest, permanently manned coastguard station is at Ballycastle.

Green light on South Pier and red light on North Pier. Fl 3s. Leading lights, 2 fixed red, bearing 028° approx.

At MLWS max depth in the harbour entrance is 2.7m.

Prevailing winds: W to NW'ly.

VHF: Ch 16 for calling and safety, Ch 12 for working. Traffic for the coastguard is routed through Belfast on Ch 16 and 67.
