The port is currently closed for commercial operations. Information for the port is retained should the port reopen. New linkspan and associated breakwater has been constructed for Ro-Ro vessels with fore /aft ramps. The port handled domestic ferry service to Gourock.

Dunoon is located on the W coast of the Firth of Clyde, facing Gourock, approx 25nm from Glasgow.

There is anchorage available in a depth of 48m in a position 036°x 0.7nm from Gantock Light Beacon, with good holding ground.
