Banff (GBBFF)

The port is currently used as a recreational harbour, consists of 2 inner basins and an outer basin, all inter connected and enclosed by 2 piers. The port is closed for commercial operations. Information for the port is retained should the port reopen.

Banff harbour lies close S of Meavie Point (57°40'N 002°31'W).

Depth 5.0-6.0m. Largest vessel handled: LOA 35m, beam 9.0m, draught 4.0m

The harbour entrance should be approached from Banff Bay on a bearing of approx 250°, but if the wind is between ENE and E and its strength is more than a moderate breeze, great care must be taken as with strong winds from this quarter, the sea breaks a long way offshore. If a moderate to heavy ground swell is running entry should not be attempted. Entrance may be made 4 hours before or after MHWS.
