Soller (ESSOL)

The port of Soller handles fishing vessels, luxury yachts and pleasure cruisers. On the N side of the harbour, Dique Este extends SSE for approx 0.05nm from the shore approximately 0.075nm E of Punta de Sa Creu. A second wharf extends a similar distance ESE from the shore a short distance E of Dique Este; a quayed section of the shore extends NE and E for approximately 0.15nm from the second wharf. The port is now closed for commercial operations. Information for the port is retained should the port reopen.

Summer.

Soller is located on the NW coast of Majorca, one of the Balearic Islands off Spain's SE coast.

Can be obtained temporarily in good weather during summer, close S of the head of Dique Este in depths between 11.0m and 12.8m. There are no dangers. The bottom is mostly sand although there are some large patches of weed, and near the moles the bottom is mud. The holding ground is fairly good, but secure anchorage can only be obtained by small vessels of moderate draught in the NW part of the harbour. Caution: Caution must be exercised because a heavy swell sometimes enters the harbour.

Leading lights: The alignment 126.5° of the Entrance Leading Lights standing on the E shore of the harbour, 0.3nm SE of Dique Este, leads into the harbour: Front light is exhibited from a white round tower, 7m in height, with an aluminium diamond daymark, 39°47.6'N 002°41.9'E. The Rear light is exhibited from the shore (similar structure, 7m in height), 36m from the front light. The mariners are advised to keep S of the alignment where it passes very close SW of Punta de Sa Creu and the head of Dique Este.
