Sant Feliu de Guixols (ESSFU)

It is reported that the port is closed to commercial vessels. Information for the port is retained should it re-open. The harbour is largely natural and is protected by Dique Rompeolas (breakwater). Commercial shipping facilities were located in the NE part of the harbour with small craft berthing available along Dique Rompeolas, and in the marina on the N side of the harbour.

San Feliu de Guixols is situated approx 100km NE of Barcelona on the Costa Brava.

LOA 120m, draught 6.8m.

Approx exports 30,000t, imports 3,000t handled annually. Principal import is china clay.

Anchorage can be obtained about 0.2nm SE of the head of Dique Rompeolas 41° 46.7'N 003°02.0'E.

Directions for entering harbour: From a position SSE of Punta de Garbi 41° 46.5'N 003°02.0'E, the track leads generally NNW to the entrance of the harbour. Front Light (disc on white mast, black bands, 5m in height) 41°46.9'N 003°01.9'E, standing on the beach, N shore of the harbour. Rear Light (similar structure, 12m in height) 52m from Front Light. The alignment 343° of these lights leads to the entrance of the harbour, passing: ENE of Llosa, a drying rock lying close off the E side of Isla del Freu 41° 46.4'N 003°02.0'E. Caution: It is strongly recommended that the leads are kept well open to the E until safely past Llosa and should be noted that the front lead has been reported to be barely visible as it stands close in front of a tree lined promenade and is partially obscured by shadows at night is lost in street lighting. Then: WSW of the head of Dique Rompeolas where, due to storm damage, part of the extremity has fallen away and fringes the head of the breakwater to a distance of about 40m.

Compulsory for vessels over 50t and is available between 0700-2359hrs. Vessels arriving after 0001hrs or when port is congested are anchored outside the breakwater.

A light (white tower, green top, 5m in height) stands on the head of the breakwater.
