Burela (ESBRL)

A small port, predominantly fishing, but equipped with one pier (for dry cargoes) and two cement berths. Cargoes consist mainly of kaolin, sand, pine and eucalyptus.

North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.

Puerto Burela is located approx 1nm S of Cabo Burela on the northern coast of Spain.

LOA 110m, no beam restrictions, draught 7.0m, 2,800DWT. Largest vessel handled: "Roelof Holwerda", 6,500DWT, dry cargo, draught 5.1m.

Outer anchorage: In fair weather, 0.2nm SSW of Piedra Burela light in depths of 6.0-8.0m.

Approaching the breakwater head from ENE the route passes (position given from breakwater head): SSE of Piedra Burela (0.5nm N), then SSE of Bajo Laxela (300m NE) a rocky 4.0m patch.

Pilotage is compulsory for all vessels of 500GT and over. Pilot boards in position 43°39.5'N 007°19.0'W.

The port limit extends 2nm off light of the berth pier.

Breakwater Head Light Beacon (round column 2m in height) (43°39.3'N 007° 20.9'W).

Entry at night is at the discretion of the pilot.

Range 1.3m.

There is no traffic scheme in operation.

Available with 24 hours advance notice.
