Yangjiang (CNYJI)

The port is operated by Yangjiang Harbour Administration Co which has 4 operational areas. The main export cargoes handled are, ore, cast iron, grain, fishery and general cargo. The main import cargoes are chemical fertiliser, agricultural chemical, iron and steel, coal and articles of daily use.

The port of Yangjiang is located on the S Chinese coast. It is situated in the centre of Yangjiang city, extending to Moyang River sea entrance where the Beijin operation area is situated.

LOA 234.98m, draught 14.1m, beam 42m, 95,731DWT.

Approx 40,000,000t of cargo and 50,000TEU handled annually.

The channel leading to the port is comparatively complex. There is a sandbar across the channel between No 2 Buoy and No 3 Buoy which are located at the river entrance, where the channel is approx 100m wide, with a depth of 0.6m, when the tide is low. Ships entering and leaving the port must wait until the height of the tide is suitable. The winding channel extending from Shijuetou area in the central city to Beijin area is approx 15km in length and approx 50-100m wide, depth 1.5m when the tide is low.

The port's water area is bounded by Beijin No 1 floating buoy in the S, Youyutou Bridge in the N, Jianshan oil depot in the E and Buchang bridge in the W, an area of approx 7kmІ.

The port is subject to irregular semi-diurnal tide. The max tidal range is 3.9m and the min is 0.1m. The average tidal range is 1.5m.

Prevailing winds: NE'ly, with an annual average velocity of 5kts and a max velocity of 38kts. When wind occurs SW'ly, the sea becomes rough in the Beijin harbour area. Rainfall: The port suffers from storms on an average of 10 days during the year except Jan and Feb. Mist: Fog occurs on average annually for 17 days, mainly between Jan and Apr. Temperature: The average temperature annually is 22°C.
