Shipu (CNXSP)

The port is bounded by Tangtougang in the N and Sanmenkou in the W, with an overall shoreline of approx 18km. It has a land area of 33.46kmІ (including Shipu town) and a water area of 28kmІ. The main cargoes handled in the port are grain, cement and general cargo.

The port of Shipu is located on the middle part of Zhejiang coastline. It is 186nm from Shanghai, 87nm from Ningbo, 60nm from Dinghai in the N, 51nm from Jiaojiang and 134nm from Wenzhou in the S.

There are 9 anchorages including 3 for waiting, one for pilotage and joint inspection of foreign ships and 5 for shelter.

The average depth is 4.0-10.0m in the port and 12.0m in the harbour basin channel. The channel leading to the port has 4 natural entrances, Tongwamen, Xiawanmen, Linmen and Sanmen formed by 4 islands, Dongmen, Duimianshan, Nantian and Gaotang. Ships below 5,000DWT can pass through Tongwamen while ships below 8,000DWT can pass through Xiawanmen.

There are navigation marks consisting of 9 light stakes and one lightbuoy.

The port is subject to regular semi-diurnal tide. The peak level is 5.57m and the lowest is -1m. The average tidal range is 3.54m. The flow is reciprocal at a velocity of 2.5 to 3kts.

Prevailing wind: N'ly. The max wind velocity is 101kts. Typhoons occur between Aug and Sep each year with wind of force 8 to 9, max force 12. Rainfall: The average annual rainfall is 162 days at 1372.4mm, the longest continuous rainfall was 22 days. Snowfall: The average annual snowfall is 6 days, max thickness of 42cm. Mist: Fog occurs on average for 55 days annually. Temperature: The average annual temperature is 16°C, the highest in history is 39°C and the lowest is -8°C.
