Chaozhou (CNCOZ)

Principal imports are containers and steel products, exports are mainly general cargo. The port also handles oil, chemical and gas carriers.

Chaozhou, formerly known as Sanbaimen, is situated in Zhenlin Bay, Raoping, in Guangdong Province on the SE coast of China, facing the Formosa Strait.

LOA 230m, draught 14m, beam 38m, 93,225DWT.

Approx 17,000,000t of cargo (including 8,000,000t of coal), 140,000TEU and 2,000 vessels handled annually.

No 1 waiting anchorage, in depths from 13.5 to 16m, is situated S of Nan'ao Dao centred on position (23°21.0'N 117°00.0'E), radius 1nm. No 2 waiting anchorage, a rectangular area 3.5nm long by 1nm wide centred on (23°30.5'N 117°05.0'E) lies N of Nan'ao Dao in the approaches to Zhelin Wan. Anchorage, which lies E of Xunzhou Dao (23°34.5'N 117°02.0'E), and in which there are two mooring buoys, has depths from 6.0m to 8.0m, mud. The anchorage is sheltered from winds between NE and SE.

Except for the entrance channel, the greater part of Zhelin Wan is shoal; the approaches to the bay contain many fishing stakes, with shellfish beds in the shallower and drying parts.

Pilotage, which is compulsory for all foreign vessels entering and leaving the port, is available from Shantou. Vessels must request pilot 48 hours prior to arrival by contacting the Port Office directly or via agent. Vessels leaving the port must request pilot 24 hours in advance. Major light: Qing Yu Light (white round masonry pile, 4m in height) (23°32.5'N 117°03.7'E).

Range: Max 2.8m, min 1.9m.
