Chizhou (CNCHI)

The port has harbour areas on the Changjiang and Qiupu Rivers with a natural shoreline of 20km. There are 2 harbour areas, Chizhou and Chikou. The Chizhou area is located on the S bank of the Changjiang River and the Chikou area is located on the E bank of the Qiupu River.

The port of Chizhou is located on the Qiupu River entrance, on the S bank of the Changjiang (Yangtze) River. It is situated between the ports of Anqing and Tongling.

LOA 133.9m, beam 23.6m, 14,000DWT.

Approx 130,000,000t of cargo and 10,000TEU handled annually.

There are 2 anchorages in the port.

The channel to the old port, S of Guichi, has a maintained depth of 4.5m. The new port, near to the main channel of the Changjiang (Yangzte) River is maintained at 8.0m. The draught limitation at LW is 3,000t.

Pilotage is compulsory and normally only available during daytime hours. River pilot boards at the Baoshan Anchorage(31°26.32'N 121°29.18'E).

The highest water level over the years is 15.3m, the lowest is 1.2m and the average is 6.7m. The max velocity is approx 5.5kts and the average is approx 2kts.

There are 4 tugs and a working boat available.

Prevailing wind: NE'ly. The max wind velocity is approx 42kts and the annual average wind velocity is 6kts. The average number of days on which wind is force 8 or more is 8 days. Mist: Fog occurs on average for 14 days, annually.
