General notices & regulations
Ballast in cargo tanks and segregated ballast tanks must be clean for overboard discharge and inspected before commencement of de-ballasting. Preparation for mooring: A pilot ladder and/or accommodation ladder should be made ready for access. Power should be supplied to the derrick or crane of the tankers manifold, which should be made ready to lift the ancillary mooring and hose handling equipment. The hoses will be connected on the starboard side of the tanker and the manifold should be made ready. A messenger line should be placed on the focsle head; this line should be a 32mm diameter messenger rope of 90m length. A large hammer, axe and long crow bar should also be available forward. To secure the tanker's buoyancy and to prevent ingress of water resulting from damage, ullage ports, forepeak, afterpeak, foredeep covers and ventilators should be securely closed, and cargo, bunker, cofferdam and pump room opening also secured. Under no circumstances may vessel's engines be shut down for repairs while moored. Loading tankers should give 1 hour then 15 minutes "Standby" notices when loading is nearing completion.
Notices of readiness
NOR establishes the beginning of laytime, on which demurrage charges are based. Arrival time will be considered to be the time the mooring master boards the vessel.
