Woodfibre (CAWOO)

Woodfibre LNG Ltd. is proposing to build an LNG processing and export facility at the former Woodfibre Pulp Mill site. The facility will include a natural gas pre-treatment and liquefaction plant, a marine offloading facility, an FSO and supporting infrastructure such as warehouses and heliports.

Woodfibre LNG is located on the W shore of Howe Sound, 7km SW of Squamish, approx. 40nm N of Vancouver.

LNG vessels calling at the terminal will have a max. beam of 45m.

Woodfibre LNG is licensed to export approx. 2,100,000t of LNG annually over a 40 year period. It is also expected to receive 48 LNG vessel calls annually.

Once completed, LNG carriers destined for Woodfibre LNG will travel along existing shipping lanes and will be piloted by two BC Coast Pilots. The Pilots will decide whether conditions are right for LNG carriers to enter Howe Sound. LNG carriers and accompanying tugboat's will travel at 8 - 10kts in Howe Sound. BC Coast Pilots are responsible for piloting all large commercial vessels in transit in BC waters.
