Lewisporte is situated at the head of Burnt Bay.

Good anchorage may be found off Lewisporte in depths of 16.0-20.0m.

A light is exhibited at a height of 8m from the head of the Canadian National Railways shed. A second light is exhibited from a post, 2m in height, on the outer end of the marina wharf.

Tugs are available.

At the pilot station, 0.75nm E of Silver Island, 12 hours in advance, addressed to "Pilots, Bay of Exploits". Confirm or amend the ETA not later than 4 hours before arrival. During the period Dec 15 to May 30, depending upon ice conditions, send the message to pilots, Bay of Exploits giving ETA off St Johns (49°33.7'N 052° 37.9'W) where the pilot will board.
