The port has two main areas comprising a ferry terminal operated by Bay Ferries and a large fishing port. The ferry terminal, located approx 4km N of the fishing port, operates the "Fundy Rose" on car/passenger/truck Ro-Ro ferry service to Saint John, New Brunswick. The fishing port, located on the shore front of Digby town, consists of a single 'F' shaped pier of which only the main stem is used for commercial traffic. In 2009, Digby Harbour Port Association purchased the harbour as part of the Transport Canada Divergence Project.
