πŸ“‹ Port Overview

βœ“ ISPSβœ“ ECA
The port of Belledune consists of three active berths for vessels that handle a variety of cargoes that include break bulk, dry bulk, project cargo, liquid petroleum and many others. NB Power and Eastern Canada Stevedoring Inc. (ECS) operate berths at the port. A fourth berth is located within the harbour, however, is no longer commercially active following the closure of the Brunswick Smelter in 2019. The port has been operational since 1968 and in recent years, has begun to diversify and transform itself as the province's first Green Energy Hub. The Green Energy Hub is a development district purpose-built for clean energy and green industry with plans to develop a green energy corridor to supply Europe's hydrogen economy. The Green Energy Project looks to develop a wind powered hydrogen facility and plans to create 60,000t/p of emission free hydrogen. The facility has the potential to be operational by 2027 after the port signed direct-trade agreements with three major ports in Germany and the Netherlands (Wilhelmshaven, Hamburg and Rotterdam).
