πŸ“‹ Port Overview

βœ— ISPSβœ— ECA
Half Moon Cay officially opened as a port of call on December 2nd, 1997. The Cay handles passengers for cruise vessels and as there is no deepwater docking facilities; tenders are used for cruise ship passengers to embark and disembark. The island is owned and operated by Carnival (Holland America) Cruise Lines who have developed the West side of the island - although other cruise lines visit the port. Following the devastating aftermath of Hurricane Dorian (2019) the Carnival Corporation is due to build a new access pier for large cruise liners on the North side of the island and expand the present facilities it shares with Holland America. Cruise tourism remains vital for the Bahamas' economy. The project will provide much needed jobs and a major boost for recovery and rebuilding following the worst storm the area has ever seen.
