Located on the NE bank of the River Amazon, approx 66nm upstream from Santarem.

Admiralty Pilot: NP286(7).

Pilotage is compulsory within the pilotage area and optional in the section between the N Entrance. from Lt. buoy No 2 in Canal Grande do Curua (001° 2.10'N 049° 39.97'W) to parallel 00°3.00'S. Vessels should request Pilots 7 days in advance and confirm ETA 48 hours, 24 hours & 8 hours in advance. Vessels bound for Itacoatiara are not required to change Pilots once both Pilots are certified for the required navigation. For vessels leaving Itacoatiara to the mouth of Rio Amazonas, Pilots are only required as far as Fazendinha (Macapa).
