πŸ“‹ Port Overview

βœ“ ISPSβœ— ECAFree Trade ZoneEcoPort
The port is situated in a natural harbour and serves primarily as a transhipment point for petroleum products and oil/gas related industries, general cargo and timber to Western Europe and passenger services to the E and W shores of the Caspian Sea. Over a year or so, the number of containers handled at the port has significantly increased following the launch of two container vessels which visit the port and are used on the Trans-Caspian International Route (Middle Corridor) and the Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan trade route. As part of Baku port, a new international port is being constructed at Alyat, 65km South of the main port. The new port area is regarded as a vital transportation hub for trade, linking the West (Turkey and the EU), South (Iran and India) and North Russia. Three international rail routes into Azerbaijan converge at Alyat. To the North West, passing through Baku to Russia; to the West, passing through Georgia to the shores of the Black Sea and Turkey and to the South, to the border area with Iran.
