Mina Saqr (AEMSA)

The port offers specialised berths for the handling of bulk cement and aggregates, chemicals, a container terminal and Ro-Ro berths. There is also a small boat harbour and fishing harbour with a depth of 4.5m. Imports: General cargo, containers, raw materials for cement industry, oilfield supplies, livestock, explosives, steel, vehicles. Exports: Aggregate, rock, cement, limestone, clinker and containers.

Mina Saqr is located on the Gulf coast, approx 30km N of Ras al Khaimah, close to the Strait of Hormuz.

Port is bounded by a main and lee breakwater. No hazards or sandbars; depth in the dredged channel 12.2m MLWS, length 2.4km, width 180m minimum. Approach Buoy in position 26°00'N 056°02.40'E is a red and white pillar buoy.

Pilotage is available 24 hours a day and is compulsory. Pilots will board in the vicinity of the Mina Saqr Approach Buoy in position 26°00'N 056°02'E. A safe pilot ladder must be rigged for the pilot to embark.

Leading directional light on 20m high tower, Red 3°, White 4°, Green 3°.

Max range of tides 2.3m. The tidal streams set SW and NE at a rate of about 1kt.

Available, four tugs, total capacity 5,650hp.

Prevailing winds: W'ly. Occasional strong winds, usually from NW may develop with little or no warning at any time.

VHF: Port radio station maintains 24 hour service on Ch 16; working Ch 16, 14, 09. Vessels should contact the port on Ch 14 or 16 for berthing instructions at least 2 hours in advance of ETA and maintain a continuous listening watch.

A Crew List, from all vessels, is required by Customs and Immigration. For shore leave crew require, photos, passports and Seaman's Book. Saqr Port Immigration will not accept Port Clearances without the signature and stamp of the issuing authority. Port Clearances generated by computer without signature and stamp are not acceptable. Saqr Port Immigration has advised that the below nationality seaman books are not acceptable for issuing seaman's visa's: 1) China (mainland) 2) Sri Lanka 3) Myanmar 4) Malaysia 5) Greek 6) Philippine 7) Syria 8) India 9) Marshall Island 10) Egypt. This is understand to be mainly due to the circulation of duplicate seaman books. However, a copy of above individual seaman's books may be shown to the Immigration authority for verification from the online system, after which they will advise on a case-by-case basis whether or not the particular seaman's book is blacklisted. Liberian and Panamanian seaman's book are completely blacklisted and seaman visa will not be issued.
